Feast of All Saints and memory of the dead
1. Which festival is celebrated on the first day of November?
In the first days of November we celebrate the Feast of All Saints .
2. Who are the Saints?
The Saints are men and women, boys and girls, when they were on earth, have so loved Jesus and lived by following his teachings were very happy for this. Now I'm even happier because they are forever in Paradise, close to God . The Church chose some of these people there and proposes as an example to follow. In fact, every day of the calendar is linked to a saint, but the Saints are many more. They are also the holy people who have passed on earth and no one is granted chalk them, but who gave a beautiful testimony of love to God and to others.
3. We too can be saints?
Yes, because the Saints were people like us, also for the sins committed, but because they loved Jesus very much, always wanted to be his friends. So he confessed often attended Mass, prayed with a sincere heart and lived all their life with commitment and passion. They wanted so much even Mary, Mother of Jesus and all of us.
4. Why, when we pray, we invoke the Saints too?
Also invoke the saints because they are friends of the Lord and are faithful to him in Heaven. In fact if we turn to them that love us so much, ask God to hear our prayers.
5. Why do we venerate the body, relics and images of saints?
Venerated relics (small pieces of body parts or objects) and the images of saints, the statues, because they remind us of the great things the Lord has done through the lives of these people, such as miracles. Their body was certainly a temple of the Holy Spirit, and the glorious resurrected to eternal life.
6. Why do we celebrate the feast of All Saints?
We celebrate the feast of All Saints:
- to praise and thank the Lord for giving us these people as an example to follow;
- to celebrate this day Saints even those who do not know;
- to ask all the saints to pray to the Lord for us and for loved ones.
7. For the day after the feast of Saints we remember all the deceased?
Why so we can pray for our loved ones who are in Purgatory, perhaps visiting a cemetery, the place where they rest their bodies awaiting the Resurrection. In Purgatory the souls of the dead are waiting to go to Heaven, along with the Saints and near to God with our prayers and our sacrifices, we can help the souls in Purgatory to go to heaven soon. For example we can pray this simple prayer:
Eternal rest give to them, O Lord. And shine upon them light perpetual rest in peace . Amen
Remember (prayer)
Remember ...
That one must live to see ...
And 'you immerse yourself in trouble,
is wetting the bones and skin of the experience at times raw,
just so you can feel the heart beat of the world ...
", Timber does not grow in ease."
