Venerable Bullesi Giles (1905 - 1929)

Apostle among the boys of Catholic Action and Scout, a young layman of the Third Order Franciscan writes: "I can cry here, my life follows a star around the world, thus seems to me more beautiful." Bullesi Giles was born in Pula in 1905, the third of nine siblings in a family of modest means and the outbreak of the war is already a refugee with his family. Back in 1918 in Pula, where does the apprentice in a shipyard, engaging in apostolic work in the difficult work environment.

During a strike, in 1920, raises the flag on the tallest crane. Two brothers, gives life to the Association of Catholic Parish, and became the young aspiring animator of Catholic Action, but after participating in Rome in 1921 at the National Congress for the 50 anniversary of the founding of Catholic back full of enthusiasm for the Scouting and is one of the promoters of the Department of Pula Scout.

A few days before the feast of Corpus Domini, Egidio wishing that trembles, in that great solemnity, the Young Catholic Scouts can also take part in the procession, and in uniform, also to be known by citizens. While grieving for the closure of the Department scouts, Giles continues to hold "instructions" to animate games, educational activities ... The boys were happy with him, and he resorted for advice, for help.

Military service from '25 to '27, as a sailor, playing a vibrant apostolic work among fellow soldiers. After his discharge, he worked as a draftsman in the shipyard at Monfalcone, but soon the disease forces him to continue treatment. For tuberculosis, August 29, 1928 is hospitalized at the hospital in Pula, giving, during his long illness, an example of fortitude and serenity Franciscan, reaching even to give his life for the missionaries. In 1997, the Church recognizes it as Venerable. The Cause of Beatification is being considered in Rome.
