Right to food

" to food "is the information campaign
and awareness promoted by Ctm altromercato

Respect for biodiversity, help the of small local economies of North and South, choose a pattern of eating and responsible drinking. You can steer the market, together we can reduce the number of people who are denied the right to food.

The right to food is a basic human right and a precondition of the right to . It is in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the first of the Millennium Goals UN: reducing by half the number of people who suffer from by 2015.

Nevertheless, today more than 920 million people live on less than $ 1 per day and this does not have enough money to buy the food they need to survive. This is not due to lack of food, but the fact that food is not accessible: it costs too much compared to what people earn every day. The causes of hunger so they are not in but imbalances in international trade, and choices of that have been taken in recent decades.

With the campaign Altromercato "Right to Food" trade fair claim its role as a political entity committed to actively raise awareness of the causes of hunger and to propose concrete solutions, network with all other economic actors who believe in a ' and food market different from those present.

The paradox

A hungry are mostly those living in rural areas and work to produce what arrives on our tables. This is the result of a market for agricultural strongly marked by specialization in production and export, which has dismantled the local farming systems.

Food sovereignty

The right of people to food is closely linked to the right of peoples, communities and countries to define their own agricultural policies, food and in an environmentally, socially, economically and culturally appropriate to their specific situations. The right of people to food, in other words, can be guaranteed only in a context of food sovereignty. Ensuring the right of peoples and communities to food sovereignty means to those who produce, distribute and consume food in the center of the systems and food policies and above the interests of markets and businesses.

Thanks to Fair Trade in the first place I can survive as a farmer.
I no longer suffer hunger, the prices that are guaranteed to me they are stable and equitable - something that
with most of the other companies not the case - and the quality requirements are higher.
I have adequate services, the wells' drinking establishments clean.
I changed many things and I can live more peacefully.

Yeah, the producer gets paid so we could nutrisrci a rag, who sells triple if not more.
And then the second thing I did not go down is the question about water: Water is also a right, but as they do for all the?
Limit consumption with special taxes to limit the waste so as to disadvantage those who nos but have a high income or provide for free to all acua definitely encouraging waste but at least guarantee it at all?
