Caravan of the Alps 2009
Caravan of the Alps 2009
Caravan of the Alps is the campaign of Legambiente , in collaboration with the Ministry of ' Environment and Protection of Land and Sea, to defend and enhance the most important European mountain region. In Italy the mountain areas, dotted with thousands of small towns, house an extraordinary web of cultural and environmental heritage, woven over the centuries with craftsmanship and rural wisdom.
A part of this rich mountainous territory has lived for years in a state of discomfort due to the increasing scarcity of local services: the preservation and enhancement of Italy mountain, like the battles against pollution, and degradation abusivismi, is a priority commitment to Legambiente. Combat desertification is a priority policy area, as the alpine landscape has evolved for centuries in close symbiosis with the land uses of local communities. For the seventh consecutive year, the Caravan of the Alps have the ambition to want to focus attention on environmental quality, urging citizens, economic forces and institutions at all levels, to become the protagonists of this challenge.

FLAGS OF THE ALPS
Concrete at high altitude streams without water due to natural springs, ski lifts that are ravaging the land, speculation here is the enemy of the mountains that make it an Italian territory at risk. How many entrepreneurs, governments and societies make havoc of the Alps, this year will award Legambiente black flags: a negative acknowledgment for the damage caused. But Caravan of the Alps will be an opportunity to give green flags, in this case a positive symbol for those who strive for the promotion and defense of the mountain. If you happen to observe a suspicious discharge, a construction site in an unspoiled, an excavation to make way for new ski slopes to Legambiente ... report it!
