Jesus rises today

I thought they had killed Jesus,
and today I saw him give a kiss to a leper.

I thought he had erased his name,
and today I heard on the lips of a child.

I thought they had crucified his pious hands,
and today I saw the dress a wound.

I thought that had pierced his foot,
and today I saw him walking the streets of the poor.

I thought they had killed a second time with bombs,
and today I've heard of peace .

I thought he had choked his voice fraternal,
and today I heard him say:
"Why, brother?" To a beating.

I believed that Jesus was dead in the hearts of men
and buried in oblivion,
but I understood that Jesus rises today
every time that every man has pity on another man.
