Polis - The city of Scout

A test case to bring Scouting to build a better world . We never realized so thoroughly the idea that BP it was made of how it could be the "scouting". The Savannah of Burkina Faso , its marvelous people, we have inadvertently led to the root of Scouting, to what must have lived in Africa, our founder. The Burkina Faso , is poor, even the poorest country in Africa. There we realized immediately because, they explained, is not landlocked and very few roads. Its economy is bound to neighboring countries, the poor also, like the Ivory Coast, Togo, Ghana, Benin, etc..

It 'a situation that seems grotesque to us Westerners. Aid arrives but are consumed in steps through the various countries. In Burkina is still used to cultivate the earth with a hoe and hand and all work, from children to old men and women. In this situation the only sign of modernity is the motor that is used as the drive from us. You load everything from chickens to cylinders of gas, even entire families. In this context, unknown to us Westerners, a group of Scouts has created a field that could be considered as a milestone.

The group was composed of 4 Rovers, 4 Heads, 5 Adults Scout. Head responsible for the field and Naomi Ruzzi AGESCI. The OASIS center in Koudougou was our main base and from there departed our activities. The camp was aimed to verify if you could create a synergy of activity between adults and scouts scout youth . This methodology has been structured according to the scouting we have been engaged in Lectio in the morning, in the evening campfire, service and activities of local knowledge. The service has seen us involved in the distribution of millet, the staple diet of African Burkina Faso, the morning an endless line of mothers, old people and children come from villages a few kilometers away, waiting for hours to receive the weekly ration. Assistance to the CREN: Center for Recovery and Education Nutrition, which operates at RS have dedicated themselves to creating moments of joy and entertainment.

Luciano, our dentist, is dedicated, as far as possible, and visits to medical emergencies, which is our center of OASIS. We went on a mission to Nanoro at the center of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart nuns and visiting San Camillo Hospital, built on the Italian model, accompanied by Italian surgeon Gino who is the soul of the hospital. We visited the mission of Sister Esther in Bousse, Neapolitan who has lived 25 years in Burkina and I made us taste the fried termites, however excellent.

We worked as a scouting knowledge of the BF, the reborn Scout Association, the Guide of the BF, and we compared the nascent Association of Scouts of adults BF "Réseau National des Scouts du Burkina Adultes".
