Thinking Day - Thought of the Day 2009
Stop the spread of AIDS, malaria and other diseases
Sunday, February 22 will be the World Thinking Day for Guides and Scouts around the world, that in this day symbolically donate a penny, that is a "money", which will serve to help Guides and Scouts who live in countries with particular problems.
The proposed theme of WAGGGS Thinking Day for 2009 is "Stop the spread of AIDS, malaria and other diseases." The proposed activities to celebrate the day at the Group level of thinking are the result of collaboration between the International Sector AGESCI Lombard and volunteers of Project Harambee Foundation Brownsea that deals with development cooperation and supporting the growth of Scouting in Africa .

Thought of the Day 2009
WAGGGS has chosen this theme because it is one of the Millennium Goals, the UN has set itself to achieve by 2015, which states that:
- stops and there is a reversal of the growth of the ' HIV / AIDS
- arrests and there is a reversal of trend in the incidence of malaria and other major diseases (eg tuberculosis)
- To understand the importance of knowing how widespread these dramatic situations only three data:
Currently more than 11 million children in Africa have lost at least one parent to HIV / AIDS and it is estimated that this number will reach 20 million by 2010. There are 42 million people living with HIV / AIDS in the world. This is a global emergency. About 40 percent of the world's population - almost entirely concentrated in the poorest countries - is at risk of contracting malaria. The goal is very ambitious: there is so much to do, but first it is necessary in-depth education and activation on global civil society. That's why WAGGGS holds particularly at this issue and because the Agesci has decided to promote it at the Thinking Day 2009.
Below are some suggestions of activities, divided by industry.
