Association of Italian Catholic Guides and Scouts (Agesci)

The ' AGESCI , Association of Italian Catholic Guides and Scouts Association Scout is Italian, which aims, according to its statutes, to educate young people through educational method outlined by Robert Baden-Powell around 1907, inspired by the Law and Promise Scout.
The association
The AGESCI officially born May 4, 1974, the union of two organizations, the Association of Italian Catholic Scouts (ASCI) and the Association of Italian Guides (AGI). The AGESCI National Youth Corps and the Rangers and Scouts Italian (CNGEI) form together the Italian Scout Federation ( FIS ), belonging to the World Scout Movement (OMMS or WOSM ) and World Association Guides and Scouts (or AMGE WAGGGS ). The AGESCI is an organization recognized by the Civil Defence (with which it has intervened in almost all emergencies occurring in Italy since the 1976 earthquake in Friuli), the IEC, and has signed memoranda of understanding with the Ministry of ' Environment and the Ministry of Education. Maintains relationships with the Italian Catholic Scout Movement Adults (MASCI). The official newspaper is the news Scout.
Organization
The organization has AGESCI vertically divided into four levels: national, regional, district level (which does not follow a strict geographical division and fails to take account of administrative boundaries such as municipalities and provinces), the group level. The groups really are quite independent in activities from local organizations, regional and national. Each of these levels is a complex structure whose purpose is still aimed at 'educating children, teenagers and young adults. The members are divided into two categories, junior partners, those who live their own experience of growing and adult members, those engaged in educational activity proposed by the association.
Affiliated all'AGESCI is Südtiroler Pfadfinderschaft [2], an association of German Catholic scouts operating in the province of Bolzano. At the regional level, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, has signed a collaboration agreement [3] between AGESCI and Slovenske Zamejske Skavtske Organizacije (SZSO), scout organization of the Slovenian minority, present in the provinces of Trieste and Gorizia.
The Group
The group is the structure that more than any other is in contact with their pupils after the drive (for further subdivision of the group) and that more than any other educational purpose of the association carries out the action. It is composed of the chiefs and adults in educational service that form the community leaders and, on behalf of the association as a whole, have direct responsibility for the children which they service. The community leaders place their educational work primarily through the drafting and implementation of an Educational Project. The components of the Community Leaders must, in order to fulfill their educational service, first of all join a Membership Pact, which sets out the ethical and moral principles of the adult who responds to this particular vocation to service, and over a number of years, to accomplish a process of training, after which it is issued a patent that recognizes both nationally and internationally the way done and the skills acquired. Only then can boast of a particular named Gilwell scarf and be considered leaders.
Within the community chiefs may be people with different levels of training who perform service with the boys: it is the community leaders who assume the responsibility of office at every level, is a trustee. The legal representatives of the group, called Group Leaders, are two, one man and one woman elected second statutes by members of the community leaders. As for the young associates, then the pupils, children, teens and young adults, there is a classification according to three age groups called branches:
- Branca Scouts and Guides (E / G) - boys / and 12/13 to 16 years
- Branca Rover and Scolte (R / S) - young people aged 16 than 20/21 years
The boys of each branch of the activities in groups called units: ladybugs for the Circle for the Pack the cubs, scouts and guides for the Department for the rovers and scouts the clan, with a first time called the Novitiate. The department is actually the predominant membership in the squadron.
Each unit can be mixed (male and female), one sex, parallel (two different units consisting only of males and females who live only by a series of activities planned throughout the year). The joint teams are headed by two chiefs patented, a woman and a man, according to the principle that every role, at any level, is given jointly to two people of different gender (dichotomy). Besides these there is a chaplain, whose presence is mandated by the Bishop of the Diocese to which the group belongs.
The leaders exert their action through educational Scout method, whose general principles are outlined by Robert Baden-Powell and a different methodology for each industry, we realized that the tools. The group usually (but not the rule) is supported to a parish, named after the place where is followed by a number (for example: Terni 2)
The Zone
The area contains, within a regional framework which changes according to needs identified by the regional level, more groups: a minimum of six to a maximum of twenty. The aim of the Zone is to promote the growth and formation of Community Leaders through events, meetings and other tools at its disposal. Still, it must act so that there is dissemination of Scouting in its territory, through the opening of other groups, has the task to create links with local authorities, and municipal and provincial administrations, associations, organizations, dioceses, etc.., should encourage the meeting and confrontation between different groups, has the power to create and implement events for groups of boys who compose it. The legal representatives of the area are the two leaders (always a man and a woman) elected by an Assembly.
The Zone is structured as follows:
- Conference of Heads Area;
- Assembly Area;
- Committee of the Area;
- Council of the Area;
each of these four tasks and structures have different compositions. The objectives, priorities, procedures and times to meet them, are the contents of the Project Area.
The Region
Unlike the region is a zone that is identified at the regional level, the administrative region of origin. It has several tasks: implementing a link between different areas, in collaboration with the Heads of National level training made the first of two training camps for leaders (Field Training Methodology, CFM), disseminates information through the management of its site and the press, inform and enhance the experience at the regional level, cares for its own level, to maintain relations with civil agencies, if required organizes events for young members. The legal representatives of the Region are the two leaders (always a man and a woman) elected by an Assembly.
The Region is structured as follows:
- Regional Leaders Conference;
- Regional Assembly;
- Regional Committee;
- Regional Council;
each of these four tasks and structures have different compositions. The objectives, priorities, procedures and times to meet them, are the contents of the Regional Project.
The National
The National level is the reference for all members. It ensures, through a multitude of structures, the connection between the regions. Specific tasks of the National level are to identify policies to address the association, the methodology used to update and preserve the richness of the method, liaise with civilian agencies at the state level, tracking down material and financial resources to pursue the set, disseminate appropriate information through the most appropriate tools.
The legal representatives of the Association, in this case, the President and the President. The Chief Scout and Chief Guide has the tasks of representing the association in its entirety, both in Italy and abroad, as well as to ensure the implementation of the principles enshrined in statute and others.
The National level is structured as follows:
- General Council;
- National Council;
- National Committee;
- Economic Commission;
- National Commission Uniforms and Badges;
each of these four tasks and structures have different compositions. The objectives, priorities, procedures and times to meet them, are the contents of the National Project.
Method and educational proposal
The Association has its own educational method inspired by the experience of Robert Baden-Powell. This method supports the growth and development of embracing the whole person by touching the heads educators who call the four points of BP: health and physical strength, dexterity, character education and service to others. What is ultimately aimed Baden-Powell and Scouting is still intends to form good citizens, people can leave the world a little 'better than they found it. The scout method bases its strength on the value of learning by doing, through a concrete experience of the outdoors, community life, to challenge themselves. There are several "pillars" of the method are explained, with practical tools sets, the Regulations Methodological Association.
- Education for outdoor living and essential;
- Citizenship education;
- Global education and peace;
- Education and coeducation love (understood as a dimension of affective-sexual education);
- Education in the faith (Catholic proposal);
Another important element of the Scout method is the symbolic language, through which reinforces a set of values that it is through a coded speech and gesture is transmitted instantly recognizable and more deeply. The educational program is implemented and demonstrated by activities and opportunities in the three proposals Branche (see Organization). Each branch has its own characteristics to better suit the different age groups and then to the different needs that arise in children, adolescents and young adults. Also important is the personal progression, in which everyone tries to improve giving themselves the targets of four: myself, relationships with others, relationship with the group, and their relationship to faith.
Branca Cubs and Ladybugs
The branch L / C (8-11/12 years) as a central element of the proposed educational play and fantastic environment. With regard to the Cubs / and the environment is that of the Jungle and has been adapted from BP The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling which the author had given permission for the necessary changes. Ladybugs for the fantastic environment of the Forest is based on the novel written by Christian blacks Seven points of Punta Ruschi Branca and the L / C National AGESCI.
In the branch of L / C, everything revolves around the game, and then be able to follow the rules and maybe complex, knowing how to lose and know how to win, a team player and the team, and the happy family atmosphere that leaders must drive to create ' inside of the small community where everyone is a brother of the other, which has the appearance of horizontality of the needs of children compared to the vertically formed from different ages. Children should be able to make commitments which shall agree with the leaders who almost always assume the peculiar names (taken from reference books) of the setting: the troop leaders will therefore have the names of Akela, Bagheera, Kaa, and so on, while the Heads will Arcanda Circle, and I Scibà. The commitments are then verified with the Old Wolves and Ladybugs Older and displayed in the headquarters unit. The branch L / C has as a reference and as a spiritual patron St. Francis and St. Clare, two figures appear to be simple, easily understandable for a child.
Branca Scouts and Guides
The branch E / G (11/12-16 years) as a central element of the proposed educational adventure. It is the bait education available to department heads to give the child opportunities for growth. The department is made up of squadrons (6/8 components of the same sex), they are the first growth of children. The squadrons take names of animals (traditionally expressed by Baden-Powell in "Scouting for Boys"). Within them there is no mention of hierarchy but of verticality: the largest in helping the younger "passing of knowledge" (skill and knowledge of scouting skills, habits, rules of conduct are transferred without there being a teaching notional type) beginning to live in this way, Scouting, a spirit of service in the community that will develop better R / S. The largest is also the responsibility of the smallest.
It is the squadron, thus, the core of the department, within which children live most of the activity: exit (usually overnight and monthly), winter camps and summer businesses. The largest part of the High Squadron often, a structure created to meet the needs of the largest department, which often differ from those of children.
The Department as a whole has two basic structures to ensure the prominence of the boys:
- Council's Law: It is the general assembly of the Department. This is a tool design and verification of the activity.
- Council Heads: formed by the department heads, chiefs and assistant squadron church. It is the management body of the life of the department. Here the boys (squadron leaders and the more experienced community) along with their leaders make decisions, plan, observe and regularly check the progress of the department. It is a tool to be aware of their responsibility for things and people, and simultaneously helps older students prepare for the climb Branca in R / S.
It is the responsibility of Department Heads during the year to ensure a climate of permanent Company: means that the companies shall be continuous with no downtime. The branch E / G has as its patron St. George.
Branca Rover Scolte
This Branca (16-20/21 years) differs from the others by the presence of two distinct phases: the Novitiate (usually lasting one year) and the Clan / Fire. The first stage usually lasts one year and is a privileged moment to know the different way to live Scouting at an age when the choices are fundamental to the life of the adult who will be then. The key points of this branch are the community, service and the way (as a real way to go on foot). After the period of "running" of the novitiate, during which the boy or girl decide whether to continue its path scout, he joined Clan / Fire. In most groups, the period of Clan / Fire lasts about 4 years and will end with the scouts out.
The Clan / Fire, differently from other scout units, is felt so deeply Community, share and present, as never before, the life of the rover or sentinel. The Clan / Fire has at its base a paper written by the community (generally every 3 or 4 years old when that was accomplished the replacement of people in the clan): Clan of the Charter. The patrons of this branch are St. Paul and St. Catherine.
