Dear friends,
A few days ago ended in Beijing Olympics, the biggest global sporting event that brings together athletes from all countries and attracts the attention of hundreds of millions of people around the world. For some it is a great sporting event. For others it is a big deal. For Humanity is a great moment of unity, a great opportunity to meet and dialogue in the ancient name of peace and the Olympic Truce.
Unfortunately, after bombastic statements on human rights and Tibet, with great hypocrisy and cynicism, governments and businesses are silent in the name of their convenienze.Per this, please make a simple gesture: the window hung the banner of human rights, leaving clearly visible for the duration of the Olympics until December 10, 2008, the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Do not let that outweigh the hypocrisy, cynicism and indifference. We raise our voices against all wars and violations of human rights. We make a clear gesture of solidarity with all the boys and girls, women, men and people who are still deprived of their fundamental rights. Support non-violent struggle of Tibetan people. Sostieniamo the defenders of human rights in China and many other parts of the world are persecuted because of their commitment. We ask the Rai and the whole world of information to give voice to human rights and those who work for their realization. We ask the government to respect, promote and defend human rights at home and around the world.
