Letter to parents - Baden Powell

Baden Powell

Dear colleagues, parents,
I'm sure many of you feel, like me, the heavy responsibility that rests on our shoulders for what concerns the future of our children. We have seen people succeed in life, and others who failed. We want our children to be between those who succeed, and we know that their failure or their success depends largely on the type of education they received and the personalities that are formed.

And this education and personality dependent to a large extent by us. Many of us are conscious of our responsibilities in this field, and at the same time that we lack resources. We have no specific training as educators, we have little free time, we can not afford high school fees. Yet these temporary inability on our part are likely to jeopardize the future of our children. Send them to the best schools we can afford, but the education gives them many hours of reading, writing and arithmetic, and that is not enough to ensure success in the career of a man.

Look at the many famous men who have come from nowhere. It was not the "reading, writing and arithmetic" that did make their way. So, what was it? It was their character. How can we get the formation of character? The most authoritative experts tell us that the character is not something that can teach a class in a school.

The scout was specifically designed to be meeting this need, and in the twelve years of his life he demonstrated his ability to grab the boy and, through activities that attract, grow it into four main areas:

  • character and intelligence
  • health and physical development
  • manual skills and hobbies
  • selfless service to others.

A boy, depending on its age, between 8 and 18, enter one of the three branches of the Movement, the cadet branch (the ), the middle one (Rangers), that of the elderly (Rovers). He finds a healthy company, healthy activities, under the personal control of the Cape, so that his character develops in the right direction for his own good and, more importantly, also for that of the whole community.

Scouting is the association for excellence, if you apply the rules given to us by our BPperchè society and today's children need rules, to believe in the true values that today are a pipe dream .., Scouting has given me so much, I loved my cubs and will always love them ... Thanks.

Hello everyone. The words of this letter to parents is the epitome of everything that I try to pass every time I meet parents of children who are entrusted to me. I tell them to be thankful every day because they had the good fortune to meet with the scout walk for their children, the most comprehensive educational program that can be of Fire to a boy of our generation. I am an educator for 20 years and my son has just started this journey.
Baden Powell Thanks for your incredible insight.
